We would like to congratulate those who have managed to finish the magazines in time and handed them with the template. See you again next year!

Nowadays, people use technology to send festive wishes to their friends and family. We can hardly see people sending the real cards today. However, if some of you managed to send one, that is considered a good effort!

District Level Action Song 2012

Today, some of our students were sent to SK Bukit Rahman Putra for District Level Action Song Competition. The venue was the same as last year. This year, 19 schools participated and we had about only 2 weeks to prepare our students. Despite this, every school did a wonderful job and everyone was having a good time. The host school described all schools as winners. Even though our students did not win the competition, they were amazing on stage, too! We would like to congratulate SK Bandar Baru Sg Buloh for winning 1st place and wishing you all the best in the State Level Competition, representing Gombak. Students of SK Taman Bukit Indah performed, "Aesop Rhapsody", a song that was based on Aesop's popular fable, The Lion and the Mouse. Let's watch their performance here. I would also like to thank all the teachers who helped out in preparing costumes, giving out ideas and providing moral support.

My Travel Journal: Movie Magic at Universal Studios – Feb 2012

Last month, my family and I went to the Universal Studios, Singapore (USS). USS has many themed zones based on famous movies like Shrek, Madagascar, Jurassic Park and many more. My favourite is the ‘Far, Far Away’ zone which has a huge castle like the kingdom in Shrek the movie. My brother’s favourite is the Jurassic Park. We had so much fun taking photos with the famous characters like Puss in Boots, King Julien, Alex the Lion and many others. I also love the ‘Hollywood Dream Parade’ where all the movie characters parade on beautiful floaties before the park closes for the day.

Fun with the newspaper

Yesterday, students of SKTBI were given a special workshop in the library. The workshop was conducted by Ms. Adeline. She works with The Star Publication. The workshop was about using newspaper in the classroom. 40 students participated in the workshop, ranging from Year 2 to Year 6. They were made into groups of 5. Students in Year 6 and Year 5 had to take their little brothers and sister as part of their group members. Below is a montage of yesterday's activity.

My Travel Journal: A Winter in Beijing

Last December, my family and I went to Beijing, China. We spent almost a week there. We visited the famous Forbidden City, the historic Tian'anmen Square, the beautiful Summer Palace, the huge Olympic Stadium and the best of all, the magnificent Great Wall of China. I also got to try skiing for the first time at Nanshan Ski Village and saw the pandas at Beijing Zoo. I like the Chinese Muslim food in Beijing. It was winter season and the temperature was around 3 celcius to 5 celcius. So cold! But I had a wonderful experience in Beijing.

In March 2011, my family and I visited Queensland, the Sunshine State of Australia. We stayed at Gold Coast for a week and visited many fantastic parks there. We had so much fun in Seaworld, Dreamworld, Whitewater world, the Ripley's Museum and enjoyed the view at Skydeck. We drove to Brisbane and cruised on the famous city Catamaran down Brisbane River. We also went to the Queensland Museum and rode on the Wheels of Brisbane. We also invited the Australia Zoo, Home of the Crocodile Hunter. The Croc Show there was simply fabulous! We had a great time on our trip to the 'Land Down Under'! I wish I could go there again.

Last Friday, we had a special lesson with Ms Vanitha, 3 Bestari and 2 Bestari. We made sandwiches and iced lemon tea! Elements of entrepreneurship and learning how to learn were incorporated in the lesson, which was part of the requirement in the KSSR. Before everyone started making their own sandwiches, we made some preparations. Meanwhile, we had our representative, Kay Irdina from 2 Bestari, to do a demonstration on its process and procedure. Let's watch the video!

Once the demonstration was over, everyone made their own sandwiches. Then, we made some nice iced lemon tea!
